Dr. Christa Uehlinger, who holds a doctorate in law from the University of Zurich, is an intercultural advisor who has worked for over ten years in international business as a manager and also as a consultant for global organizations and companies.
This experience made her realize that culture is oftentimes seen as a threat and not as potential. Her curiosity to discover more about other cultures and the people influenced by different cultural backgrounds made her study intercultural communication in the US and has taken her to many parts of Europe, Canada, the US, India, Australia, Africa and Asia.
Today she runs her own company christa uehlinger linking people (www.linkingpeople.ch) and works internationally with leading companies from different industries as well as municipal employees, nurses, teachers and multicultural teams supporting them to discover the beauty and strengths of cultures, to share the sensation of being different and thus to make cooperation more effective, in part through her encouragement of "lateral thinking."
Her work consists of several published articles on intercultural communication. She is the author of Miteinander verschieden sein, interkulturelle Kompetenz als Schlussel zur global vernetzten Welt (Versus Verlag, Zurich) and the Co-author of the game Puzzling Intercultual Stories. Moreover, Dr. Christa Uehlinger regular holds speeches on this topic and is also a university lecturer on intercultural communication. Additionally, she is the president of SIETAR Switzerland (Society for Intercultural Education, Training and research), the leading global association for intercultural practitioner.
Born and bred in Zurich in multicultural Switzerland, Christa speaks Swiss German, German, French, English and a bit of Italian.
